Seawitches Issue 6

"Seawitches was born from a passion to tell stories from diverse perspectives and an almost mystical adoration for nature...". - Margaret Seelie, Founder & Curator

It's time to welcome another issue of Seawitches to the store.

Founded in 2015 by Margaret Seelie, Seawitches continues to grow from strength to strength. Issue 6 sees 52 pages packed with thought-provoking, interesting text, combined with beautiful colour and black & white photography, plus amazing artwork from Natalie Hemingway of Black Mountain Print.

"In this issue, you'll find stories of grounding and healing. I hope they help ease the transition back to reality and reflect some of the places we've been. To kick things off, our Artist-in-Residence, Natalie Hemingway, shares how quarantine kindled a new creative practice - as well as an obsession with river swimming near her home in Wales. Our editor, Serena Renner, also explores wild dipping with a photo essay about four Vancouverites who picked up a cold-water habit they don't want to quit. And as we reckon with personal and collective loss, we can turn to Gary Bremen's feature about finding comfort in a heart-shaped gift from the sea.

In the lineup, Joanie/Johnny Cappetta discovers freedom of expression through riding a non-binary surfboard. Dina El Dessouky interviews photographer Kaili Reynolds about diversifying the surf archive, one playful image at a time. Finally, our Seawitches Gallery has photos, poems, and artwork for feminists, birders, lovers, mothers and swimmers."
- Margaret Seelie

The covers are letterpressed, hand-dyed with avocado pits, and also smell very nice(!).
